Blinds’ value is determined by the table rules. After that first round of betting takes place. Each player clockwise from the big blind may call, fold or raise.
  • Dealer turns over the Flop (three cards), then goes the second betting round. One more card that is turned over is called the Turn and is followed by players’ bets. The last open card is called the River. It is followed by the last betting round.

2. Omaha

Second best world poker game has a little bit more complicated rules, but also a better chances to get superior hands.

  • Compared to hold’em, in Omaha players get four down cards.
  • In their hand, players must use two down cards along with three open cards. Note that in hold’em any number of down and open cards may be used.
  • As in hold’em there are four betting rounds in Omaha and the same sequence of open cards turning over – Flop, Turn, River.
  • Hi-Lo (High Low) Omaha is a split pot game. Pot is equally split between the High hand (the best one) and the Low hand. Low hand is five-card hand with different numerical values from Ace to 8. Half of the pot goes to a player who has this combination and the smallest high card in it. The best Low hand is A, 2, 3, 4, 5.

3. Stud, 7-Card Stud

You have seen it in dozens of movies. Classic poker game – and that’s enough reason to learn to play Stud.

  • In 7-Card Stud there are five betting rounds, three raises are allowed for each round.
  • Before dealing everyone antes (puts a predetermined amount in a pot). Everyone is dealt three cards: two down and one up. The lowest up card starts a betting round. If two or more players have the same lowest card, the order is determined by suit (order progressing: clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades).
  • Three cards are dealt to each player consequently, each followed by the betting round. The right to bet first has the players with the highest cards.
  • The final down card is dealt, and the last betting round follows.
  • Shotdown. The best hand (five cards out of seven) wins the pot.
  • 7-Card Stud High Low is a version with a split pot. It has the same structure, but half of the pot goes to a player with the Low hand. The Low hand rules are the same as in Omaha High Low: it takes five cards with different numerical values from Ace to 8.

4. Chinese and Open Chinese Poker

Exciting poker game variation, where players need to combine cards in three hands. Requires good hands’ knowledge and strategic skills.

  • In classic Chinese poker, player is dealt 13 down cards. He needs to order them in three hands: two of five cards and one of three cards. The lower combination must always be of the higher rank: 5-card highest, 5-card middle, 3-card lowest.
  • If the combinations’ sequence is broken, it is called a dead hand, and a player loses.
  • To win, player must correctly combine cards and have higher hands’ rank than his opponents.
  • In Open Chinese Poker, a player receives five cards. He must arrange them in any desired order in three combinations. The combinations’ rank and rules are the same as for classic Chinese poker. Opponents may see his cards. After that a player receives eight more cards one by one and arranges them until all three combinations are finished.
